Graham Witherspoon earned an Elementary Education degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester NY. He began his teaching career at Kate Waller Barrett in Stafford VA, where he taught 5th and second grade. In 2004, Graham moved to North Carolina and taught sixth grade science at Standback Middle School in Hillsborough NC. Graham also served as a Raleigh Police Officer, for the City of Raleigh, working with the downtown patrol unit, the community policing division, where he worked to solve community problems with local businesses, schools and community partners, and with the youth and family services division, working alongside Wake County Schools teaching the Leader Program to fifth grade students. After serving the City of Raleigh for thirteen years Graham came back to the classroom in 2015 teaching second grade at Hodge Road Elementary School. 2017-2019, Graham taught seventh grade social studies at East Garner Magnet Middle School, in 2020-2021 was an administrative intern at Cedar Fork ES. April 14 of 2021 Graham was named Assistant Principal of CONN ES in Raleigh NC, in Wake County Public School System.

NC State University’s Educational Leadership Academy (NELA) seeks to increase student achievement by preparing and retaining principals in high-poverty, hard-to-staff, and historically low-performing schools. NELA creates a comprehensive leadership development and succession plan for NC high-need school districts. Each component is anchored in research-based best practices in leadership preparation and is designed to meet the specific contextualized needs of schools in North Carolina.
