Cedar Fork Elementary School Profile Introduction:
The overall objective of this presentation is for myself to understand the Cedar Fork Elementary School (CFES) school culture and community in which I will be the administration intern for the 2020-2021 school year. It is important that I understand the overall school community and culture which will allow myself to be an effective leader within the school community and educational system.
This upcoming school year is fulfilled with many mixed emotions, on one hand, I am excited to begin the next journey in becoming a school principal and on the other hand, we are in the center of an unprecedented pandemic entitled COVID-19.
Another angle that has me feeling somewhat uncomfortable is my return to elementary school. It has been four years since I have taught at the elementary level, I have spent the past years teaching seventh grade history at East Garner Magnet Middle School in Garner NC. The last personal growth will be the different student demographics at CFES. CFES consists of 68% Asian population 50% of the 68% are Indian and 9% Black students at EGMMS there were 70% Black students and 30% Hispanic students. As a black male educator at EGMMS I was able to assist students with ease due to our racial makeup being the same. This year at CFES I am the outlier (based on race and gender) because I will be the only black male educator in the building.
Within the guidelines of this presentation, Seek to Understand the School Community I will present the school composition of CFES through: School Improvement Plan and Other Goals, School Report Card, Special School Awards and Distinction and other school related resources. After addressing the school composition, the presentation will explore the school demographics and overall culture.
